Terms of Service

Welcome to BeatTheBot ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the BeatTheBot website at beatthebot.sh (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

BeatTheBot is an AI-powered CV and resume optimization service. You upload your CV and a target job description, and our system uses artificial intelligence to analyze and optimize your CV for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and the specific job posting. The Service generates suggestions, rewrites, and optimized versions of your CV to improve your chances of passing automated screening.

2. Account Registration

To use BeatTheBot, you must create an account. By registering, you agree that:

• You are at least 18 years of age
• You will provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You will maintain the accuracy of your account information
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

You may register using an email address and password, or through Google OAuth. One account per person is permitted.

3. Credit System and Payments

BeatTheBot uses a credit-based system:

• New accounts receive 3 free credits to try the Service
• Additional credits can be purchased through our tiered pricing plans
• All prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD)
• Payments are processed securely by Stripe
• Credits are non-refundable once purchased
• Credits never expire and remain available on your account indefinitely
• Credits are non-transferable between accounts

We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect credits you have already purchased.

4. AI Output Disclaimer

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate CV optimizations and suggestions. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated suggestions are provided as recommendations only and are not guaranteed to result in job interviews, offers, or any specific employment outcomes
• You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving all AI-generated changes before using them
• AI output may occasionally contain inaccuracies or suggestions that do not align with your experience, and it is your responsibility to correct these
• The effectiveness of CV optimization depends on many factors beyond our control, including the specific ATS used by employers, hiring preferences, and job market conditions

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload malicious files, viruses, or any content designed to compromise the Service
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access or interact with the Service
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the Service's underlying algorithms or models
• Use the Service to generate false, misleading, or fraudulent CV content
• Share your account credentials with others or allow unauthorized access to your account
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its output without our written consent

6. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain full ownership of all CV content, resumes, and job descriptions you upload to BeatTheBot. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

Our Service: The BeatTheBot name, logo, website design, software, and all underlying technology are our intellectual property or the property of our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• We do not guarantee any specific employment outcomes from using the Service
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
• Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
• We are not responsible for the actions of third-party services (Stripe, Anthropic, Vercel) that we use to operate the Service

8. Account Termination

By You: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, all your personal data, uploaded CVs, and optimization history will be permanently removed. Any unused credits will be forfeited and are not eligible for refund.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in abusive behavior. In cases of termination for abuse, unused credits will not be refunded.

9. Payment Terms

• All prices are displayed and charged in Canadian Dollars (CAD)
• Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full credit card details.
• All credit purchases are final. No refunds will be issued for purchased credits, whether used or unused.
• If a payment fails or is disputed, we may suspend access to your account until the matter is resolved.
• Applicable taxes may be added to your purchase based on your location.

10. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time.

When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BeatTheBot, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the Province of Quebec, Canada.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.
